Elise Clifton-Ward: A New Style Icon Emerges

It's official. I'm obsessed.
The garments worn by character Elise Clifton-Ward in the film The Tourist resemble elegance more often characteristic of the 1950's than seen anywhere today. To say that Elise, played by Angelina Jolie, is gorgeous is an understatement. Well-tailored garments, classic styles and luxurious fabrics bring an added boost of appeal to her look. Similarly, taking cues from this fictional style icon could add positive appeal to any of our wardrobes.

Look #1
This is a perfect example of a well-tailored dress. The silhouette and fabric has understated sophistication while the style and fit are still very sexy.

Look #2
Another example of a tailored, yet feminine look and it's complete with classic pumps, pearls and oversized sunglasses. LOVE.

Look #3
A simple, neutral-colored merino or cashmere sweater should be a staple in any woman's wardrobe.

Better than Marc Jacobs?

Every once in a while I get a little special treat. WWD Collections. This latest issue focusing on SPRING 2010, of course. They always feature a top ten section of designers for that season and as always Marc Jacobs made the cut, however I am loving Missoni more this year! It is definitely something special when it tops MJ in my book...

I blew the pic up so the amazing detail can be seen. GOR GE OUS!!!

And Marc, your work is always beautiful!

pajamas?

Okay, so I was just doing some online window shopping and found the cutest pajamas. But Seriously, would I just wear then for pajamas? Don't think so...

luxury, simplfied

I like the idea of simplified luxury when it comes to anything, especially this upcoming new trend for accessories due Spring/ Summer 2011. Here are a few looks I found online that I am particularly fond of and looking forward to...

Here is a bag by Heritage Leather that is casual with canvas, yet classically sructured.

...And here is one that is not-so-structured from Jill Sander Sring/Summer 2010.

Looks I like - Military Inspired

Just going through some images from the Fall 2010 shows on style.com for "research" and fell in love with this Military Look from Cynthia Steffe. This makes me want to pair a short, fitted leather jacket with some high-waisted, wide-leg trousers right now!

EMBELLISHED DETAILS

There is something so delightful about little embellishments. Rodarte gave us a preview this trend in this past Fall/Winter 09/10 Collection and to name a few, Prada and Givenchy incorporated dramatic use of sequins and beads in their Spring/ Summer 2010 collections.

RODARTE AUTUMN/WINTER 09-10

WGSN, my go-to guide for everything forecasted in the fashion industry, predicts we will see an update in the already current trend of sequins and beads in fresh, organic patterns. Next season, we will also see the use of embellishments in trousers and skirts.

I think the idea of embellisments on skirts, dresses and trousers could spell tacky, over-done disaster, however, this dress works! It is organic, yet fresh and there is balance in both color and texture.
